Hi everybody!

I hoped to resume blogging after I get used to my new MBA routine. But so far my school-life balance is still unbalanced and I'm still fighting with time-management and prioritizing:-) So looks like where won't be new posts for a while:-(

But please, everybody, keep in touch!

P.S. And check my blog sometimes, I still hope to catch up with you all and blogging soon:-)

Keane at Myth Club

I actually believe that in relatively new rock music, British rock bands and singers really rule now. It’s just amazing how many great young music talents this small country has produced!
And last month we were lucky to see two of the best young British rock bands – Franz Ferdinand (my post about it is here) and Keane.
Keane performed at Myth Nightclub - the same place where we saw Motorhead last year. I actually like this place, not big, but spacious. That time we managed to get a great view, not crowded and not far from the scene, and for once in a way we enjoyed a concert in comfort:-) And it was a real pleasure!

What music! Very gentle, romantic and very rock-n-roll at the same time. And what a voice!( I’m talking about Keane’s lead vocalist Tom Chaplin). He sounded like young Morten Harket (A-HA)! Wow! Just great!

So, I’m almost happy now! I saw two of my most favorite rock bands on small stages in one month. If I’m lucky enough to see Amy Winehouse live I will be completely happy! (which is less possible; due to her bad temper and some legal issues Amy Winehouse is denied US visa)

Sukay - Carnavalito

Pachamama Band

HA! Surprise! This is me (to be precise, it’s the back of my head:-)), playing tarko (an Andean folk music instrument) with the Pachamama Band for the for the participants of the Ethnomusicology Conference at the University of Minnesota.

The song that we are performing is called Chofercito de la Mala Suerte (a driver with the bad luck). Enjoy!

Pretty unexpected, isn’t it? Actually, I didn’t expect it from myself:-) It all began from taking a Spanish class, where we were required to turn in “contact hours”. “Contact hours” – is the time that was “to be spent making an effort to become more aware of people, communities, and cultures who speak Spanish” (it’s a quote from the syllabus:-)). So these were my contact hours and were a great pleasure, because playing music is actually fun, and Andean music is very-very beautiful!
In our master-class we also learned to play jula-julas:

P.S. How do you like our drum?
