I just love love love love them!!!! So I was really excited about this concert and began to talk about it a long time before the event! And … to my surprise, none of the Americans whom I asked about Franz Ferdinand new them and no one showed the enthusiasm to figure out who they are. Mda… You guys are missing out!
Another great thing about the concert was that it was that it was held at First Avenue, the legendary nightclub that was the starting point for almost every famous singer and band that came out of the Twin Cities, including the Twin Cities favorite –Prince. By the way, First Avenue appeared in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain. Along with Twin Cities’ native musicians a great number of important artists and bands have performed on First Avenue’s stage.
Every star on the building's exterior has the name of an artist who has played at First Avenue
When we got to First Avenue that evening we learned two things:
First, that the club was completely sold out, so I have to take back my words that Americans don’t know Franz Ferdinand:-).
And second, that we are not getting younger:-) Opposite to Seal’s concert this time we were some of the oldest people in the audience. The concert was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and we spent 2 hours standing and listening to front runners. Franz Ferdinand didn’t begin to perform until 10 p.m. and finished about midnight. And it was Tuesday, after a work day. And, frankly, I began to feel my age:-). But, anyway, we pulled ourselves together and I enjoyed the concert (I mean danced, sang and yelled with the audience, as it supposed to be at good concerts).
