City of Lakes Loppet

This weekend we learned about one more Twin Cities’ tradition - City of Lakes Loppet. According to the City of Minneapolis, this is the nation's largest urban cross-country ski marathon. As it turned out, this event is much more interesting than it seemed at first.

The Loppet is held during the first weekend in February and represents different ski activities. It looked like everybody was skiing this weekend – professionals and amateurs, adults and children, and even dogs.

This year we almost missed the Loppet because we became aware of it too late. We only came to the Lake of the Isles on Saturday night to see the "Tour of Light" and to take the pictures.

It was really spectacular! I hope we’ll take part in the "Tour of Light” as skiers next year.

This is our shadow:-)

And unfortunately we didn’t know about the ski race with dogs on Saturday afternoon, and missed it! So! Next year we’ll be better prepared for the Loppet and won’t miss anything interesting!
